How it works

How long will your Bronx property take to dry?

Pick the main material, how wet it is, and how much of the building was affected to see a rough drying window. Plaster, a cellar slab, or hardwood holds moisture longer, so the sooner drying starts, the shorter it takes and the less you lose.

FAQ

Questions about this tool

How long does water damage take to dry in a Bronx apartment?

Most rooms dry in 3 to 5 days, though plaster walls, a wet cellar slab, and hardwood can take longer. A Bronx building traps humidity, and water that crossed between units keeps drying slowly behind the walls, which is why we use commercial dehumidifiers and monitor moisture daily.

Why does a plaster wall or a cellar slab take so long to dry?

Old plaster and a concrete cellar slab hold a lot of moisture and give it up slowly. After a ceiling leak or a cellar flood, that means more days of controlled drying and daily moisture readings before it hits a safe target and finishes can go back.

Can hardwood and parquet floors be saved after water damage?

Often, yes. We float specialty drying mats over the floor and pull moisture out slowly instead of tearing up parquet or strip oak. It takes longer than drying tile, but it is the difference between drying a floor and replacing it.

How do you know when it is dry?

We take daily moisture readings with meters and only pull the equipment once the readings confirm the structure, including the wall cavities between units, has reached a safe, dry target.
